MMBLJZZ: SPKNG N TXNCS is Unc D's third MUMBLE JAZZ album. This concept mixes jazz scatting with autotune and modern hip hop. While all other MUMBLE JAZZ albums feature a trio of Unc D, Thin Thicket (keys) and Damon the Soulful Samurai (drums), this album features an additional two musicians: Nick Frank (guitar) and Zach Connelly (drums).

The album was recorded in a single session in July 2022 at Thin Thicket's Bearcave Recording in Youngstown, OH. Following the method of MUMBLE JAZZ, Unc D and Thin Thicket first made the beats, then had the band perform group improv over these beats. All MUMBLE JAZZ beats intentionally use the formula of 808 drum machine + bass guitar + keyboards, although some songs on this album feature previously made beats that have a more varied instrumentation (SDMCNTST, NSTRDCTN, CRNGGLS).

Notably, the album opens up with a rap verse from legendary mumble rapper 645AR, famous for his singles 4 Da Trap and Yoga. I wanted to include 645AR on a MUMBLE JAZZ track because I feel a certain like spirit with him, as he uses a radical approach to autotune in the rap community.

The addition of guitar and a second drummer is unusual for the MUMBLE JAZZ series, but due to the event of reconnecting with both Nick Frank and Zach Connelly at the time of recording. After not seeing each other for a few years due to the pandemic, I reconnected with both around this time in July 2022, when he invited them to the next session on the books: MMBLJZZ: SPKNG N TXNCS. The addition of a guitar (or rather mini-six string bass) and second drum set definitely delineates this album from other MUMBLE JAZZ albums which follow the formula more tightly, but their presence makes a huge difference that is especially felt on tracks like TXXTS and SDMXCNTST.

This album had two singles placed on Spotify editorial playlists, NSTRDCTN and 6XYXS, bringing MUMBLE JAZZ to a global audience. The single, 6XYXS.MMBL is featured on Spotify's This is 645AR playlist.
